Coffee Science Lab was founded by Dr. Monika Fekete. Monika is a bioengineer with a PhD in chemistry. Coming from Europe, she was impressed by the coffee culture in Australia, particularly in Melbourne. After five years as a chemistry researcher at Monash University, Monika decided to combine her passion for science with her love of great coffee. Since then, she has collaborated on coffee science projects with high profile coffee professionals, such as former SCAA president and coffee chemist Joseph Rivera, specialty roasters Five Senses Coffee and Australian Brew Cup Champion Devin Loong. Inspired by an industry striving for perfection and the example set by successfully operating coffee analysis laboratories in the US, Monika has decided to set up the first independent coffee science laboratory in Australia.
